About

Raised in Yorktown Heights, NY, I have always had a passion for animals. As a young boy, I started with a rabbit breeding business and from there I have collected any animal I could or was allowed to get my hands on. However, reptiles were always my favorite. I found their slick quality and keen senses to be staggering.

I started my first reptile collection with geckos. This was the only reptile I could convince my wife to allow me to purchase. My gecko population grew when we purchased our home. I had a small room in my garage we called the “Pet room” that was dedicated to geckos and turtles. Every time my wife would turn around, I went out and bought something new. I just could not satisfy my passion. When my wife decided to throw me a surprise 30th and invite the “reptile guy”, I realized what was missing in my collection….

I was in love….The silky skin slithering through my hands; Wow, what a feeling!!! It was a boa not a ball but I was in love none the less. I began going to the White Plains reptile show every time they were in town just to look at the different snakes. However, my wife was not budging. So I took matters into my own hands and made probably the best but worst “good” husband decision I could ever make. I went behind her back and bought one. I hid it in my pet room for months. Everybody knew except for her. Even my little man, Charlie knew. But, I did what the best “cops and robbers” movie tell you not to do; I talked….I talked and talked about the different qualities of a snake hoping to convince her so I could finally introduce her to the new love of my life….However, instead of convincing her, I made her suspicious. No one said I was good under pressure…..

So one day when I was in my pet room cleaning it, my wife decided to pay me a visit which was really rare. She was looking around my room and stood up on a chair to look into the glass tank where I hid her. Lucky that “Lucille” was sleeping in her hide. Nervous as I tend to get when she is on to me about something, I was trying to direct her attention to other areas in the room. I was almost in the clear when she looked back and saw a big piece of shed skin and asked me “what was that.” I tried telling her it was something else but since I talked too much she knew exactly what it was and I was just burying myself deeper into the hole as I continued to lie to her. So my wife decided to be the cop that she pretends to be and took a flashlight to look in to the hide…that was the end of that secret….. the gig was up!!!

Time went by and she realized it really wasn’t so bad. Probably because it was so far away from her that she never saw her. I spent a lot time with “Lucille” but as you hear from other owners, they become addictive…I read everything I could get my hands on about ball pythons and I knew that I wanted to start breeding. Their cycle of life and the different possibilities of morphs amazed me.

Something was on my side the day I asked her if we can start a “family” business. Maybe it was the words I used, the wine I was giving her or maybe it was my charm…..nonetheless she said yes, and here I am. So thank you for visiting the online home of Royal Q Pythons. I hope you would experience the same love I have when you look through my collection. It has been truly a fun ride doing what I love best and nothing more….
Enjoy your visit!
